Job description

We’re seeking a driven and detail-conscious Junior Automation Test Engineer to help support the testing and quality assurance of a contemporary software platform within a dynamic and collaborative engineering setting.

As part of a small, highly engaged team, you’ll contribute directly to delivering high-quality products through a combination of automated and hands-on testing. This role is ideal for someone in the early stages of their career who is keen to gain practical experience with modern automation frameworks, continuous integration environments, and test-driven methodologies.

This is initially a 6-month contract with an expanding and forward-thinking organisation. You’ll have the opportunity to work with modern testing tools and practices while tackling real engineering challenges, with a strong chance of extension or a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, enhance, and maintain automated test frameworks using contemporary tools
  • Produce clear, efficient, and reusable automation scripts
  • Contribute to Test-Driven Development by introducing tests early in the software lifecycle
  • Carry out a blend of manual, exploratory, functional, and regression testing activities
  • Develop and keep up-to-date test artefacts, including test cases, plans, and scenarios
  • Perform both feature-specific and end-to-end integration testing
  • Embed automated tests within CI/CD pipelines and track their execution
  • Analyse test failures, diagnose root causes, and work alongside developers to resolve them
  • Partner with engineering colleagues to strengthen test coverage and elevate overall product qualit

Skills & Experience:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
  • At least one year’s experience in software testing, whether manual, automated, or both
  • Working knowledge of test automation tools
  • Foundational programming ability in TypeScript, Java, or a comparable language
  • Good understanding of testing fundamentals, including functional and integration testing and defect tracking
  • Awareness of CI/CD processes and automated testing workflows
  • Familiarity with development tools such as Git and Agile ways of working
  • Strong analytical mindset with a keen interest in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues

If it sounds like an ideal opportunity for you then please apply for immediate consideration.
