Job description

We are supporting a well-established manufacturing organisation in the search for a Sustainability Advisor to support and drive environmental performance across products, operations, and the wider supply chain.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career sustainability professional to take ownership of a stand-alone role, working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to embed sustainable practices across the business.

You will play a key role in supporting sustainability strategy, improving environmental performance, and ensuring compliance with evolving legislation and customer expectations within a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the development and delivery of sustainability initiatives and environmental objectives
  • Collecting, analysing, and reporting environmental data including energy usage, carbon emissions, materials, and waste
  • Monitoring progress towards Net Zero targets, identifying trends, and recommending improvement actions
  • Supporting product sustainability by working with Product Development on materials, lifecycle data, and environmental credentials
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, standards, and certifications (e.g. FSC, EPDs, DEFRA requirements)
  • Working with suppliers to gather sustainability data and improve transparency across the supply chain
  • Leading and supporting sustainability projects and internal campaigns (e.g. recycling, energy reduction)
  • Acting as a key point of contact for sustainability-related customer queries and tender submissions
  • Promoting sustainability awareness across the organisation through engagement, training, and communication
  • Supporting audits and maintaining up-to-date environmental documentation
  • Monitoring changes in environmental legislation and advising the business accordingly
  • Collaborating closely with internal departments including Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Sales

Experience/Qualifications:

  • A proactive and motivated individual with a genuine interest in sustainability and environmental performance, looking to develop their career within a manufacturing environment.
  • A degree or relevant qualification in sustainability, environmental science, or a related discipline
  • Ideally 1–2 years’ experience in a sustainability or environmental role (including placements or internships)
  • Working knowledge of environmental legislation and reporting requirements
  • Confidence supporting or leading audits and compliance activities
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify improvement opportunities
  • Good communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across the business
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence where required
  • A practical mindset with the ability to support and lead projects and initiatives

Opportunity to develop a stand-alone role with real exposure to senior leadership and business-wide sustainability strategy. If you are an early-career sustainability professional looking for a role where you can take ownership, develop your skillset, and make a tangible impact within a growing manufacturing business, we would be keen to speak with you.
