Engineering Manager

£45,000 - £55,000 per annum plus 10% bonus and additional benefits

I am excited to bring to market this unique opportunity for an experienced Engineering Manager. You will be working for a leading global provider of heat treatment offering bespoke services and products to the aerospace, defence, automotive and power industries to name a few. You will be based at the Newport site and will form part of a much larger team operating in 22 countries.

 

You will ideally have experience of thermal spray application paired with demonstrative leadership skills. This role is pivotal in terms of solving complex problems working with divisional teams across production, quality and sales.

 

 

A snapshot of duties and responsibilities

 

  • Oversee the day to day running of the Engineering department, including distributing and organising work accordingly.
  • Using your Engineering knowledge and experience you will support with existing applications, identify and implement productivity, cost savings and trouble shoot issues.
  • Accept responsibility for the process development of new applications and production parts (this will involve working closely with customers, sales from enquiry stage through to production).
  • Ensure that all process documentation is clear, accurate and up to date.
  • Ensure all supporting documents such as specifications and drawings are maintained and registered.
  • Aid the Quality representative in managing NC/CAR’s to ensure robust actions are in place for application issues.
  • In conjunction with the General Manager be responsible for setting and maintaining departmental objectives and KPI’s.

 

Skills, qualifications, and experience required.

 

  • Experience within the Thermal Spray sector.
  • Mechanical engineering/ Material Science (or related discipline) to degree level or equivalent.
  • Experience of identifying and implementing productivity/ process improvements
  • The ability to interpret complex data, technical drawings, and customer specifications.
  • Strong leadership experience a must!
  • Good understanding of QMS system, knowledge of aerospace quality systems AS9100
  • Hand on approach
