IntaPeople are currently working with a market leading manufacturing business in Newport who require an experienced and forward-thinking Software Development Manager. Due to year-on-year growth this position has been created to report directly into the Engineering Director and support them within the wider software team. You’ll manage a software development team of 15 of which 9 are current direct reports.
This is a really exciting time to join the business as they invest and ramp up their software/IT estate. They are heavily investing in brand new technology and processes which ultimately will move towards Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the future. The business is part of a wider group who are estimated to be worth $5 billion so career stability is available.
Key responsibilities:
- Management of the Software Development team (15 members split between software developers and testers)
- Management of monthly software release cycles and sprints which include including prioritisation, task allocation, review, testing, team stand ups/meetings
- Support the Director of the Platform Engineering and wider management team
- Ensure good working practices are followed and lead by example
- Establish relationships with Product Management, Engineering Teams, Field Teams and customers to ensure the team continues to deliver required solutions
- Develop quality metrics and methodologies in order to meaningfully measure and improve software quality
- Bring new ideas to the table and create fresh opportunities for the business/team
- Contribute to the development of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning capabilities within the company’s wider offering
Previous, Software Management experience in a high-tech industry is essential along with working knowledge of Microsoft Azure DevOps and Continuous Integration and static analysis tools.
Essential skills/experience:
- Software Engineering Management experience (minimum of 10+ team members)
- Experience working with a Manufacturing / Engineering environment (not web development/software houses)
- People management – reviews, leadership, progression , development
- Engineering, Manufacturing or transferable industry experience
- Knowledge/exposure to Microsoft Azure and DevOps practices
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Able to lead by example and be approachable
- Be results driven and focus on the needs of the business and customers
Role overview:
- Software Development Management (Engineering/Manufacturing sectors)
- Salary offering £65,000 -£75,000 depending on experience / knowledge
- Annual Bonus - performance based
- Company car or Car allowance (up to £425 pm)
