Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Senior/Software Engineering Lead / Head of Software Development who is looking for progression and the opportunity to step into a future Chief Technology officer role.
Joining this fast-paced environment you will work closely with several other software developers, product managers and data engineers. As the Software Engineering Lead, you will take ownership of the development eco-system whilst working closely with the founders to deliver the highest standards of software solutions and products possible.
Essential Skills:
- Proven experience as a Senior or Lead Engineer
- Backend software development using Node.JS
- Frontend software development using JavaScript, React, HTML & CSS
- Cloud services experience – ideally GCP but Azure is considered
- Strong experience developing API’s
- Working with containerization tools such as Docker & Kubernetes
- Strong experience working to industry best coding practices
- Continuous integration, continuous delivery and TDD
- Open-source database experience such as PostgreSQL (other SQL are desirable)
- Project Management and AGILE development methodologies
You will also need excellent communication skills and be able to present to a technical and non-technical audience. Having experience or an interest working within a Big Data, AI or Machine Learning environment will be beneficial but not essential.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading the software development and architectural vision within the company
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities
- Design and build outstanding software solutions
- Stay current with the latest technologies and best practices suited to the business
- Lead a small team of software developers (who need little people management)
- Be held responsible for the technology budgets (including technical debt) and key decision-making alongside the founders
- Hold code reviews to ensure the quality of the codebase is to the highest standard
- Work closely with other colleagues to ensure cyber security and data protection is high on the agenda
Being the Software Engineering Lead, you will also provide technical support and advice to enterprise-level clients where possible and identify future improvements and up-selling product opportunities.
