Remote Senior Software Engineer (PHP)
We are helping to scale a high-growth start-up and keen to find fully remote Senior Software Engineers to join the team.
About you…
We’re looking for strong Software Engineers and we want people who have solid experience producing secure and performant systems, it’s not good enough to work right, it must be solid!
The company have a “shift left” mentality, they want to find problems early, feedback constantly and communicate clearly. Static analysis, unit testing, functional testing, smoke testing, infrastructure as code… We need people who live and breathe these concepts.
This team is working on some very interesting challenges and feel that a good engineer is a good engineer, regardless of tools – that being said this is the stack and it would be helpful if you’ve engaged with at least some of it:
* PHP - the modern kind, not the difficult early years!
* Symfony framework (or any similar framework)
* Relational databases (they mainly use PostgreSQL but anything in that space is fine)
* JavaScript (they’re pretty close to the browser, but do use some frameworks here and there)
* Git
If you’re someone who likes to get involved in infrastructure, that would be a plus, the rest of the stack is Docker/ECS, Terragrunt / Terraform and about a dozen or so AWS services.
The company value culture over most things and make intentional, data-driven decisions, prioritising the customer's experience over personal preferences. They’re are cross functional team with a “no hero” mentality and though the team are remote first, ideally, we are looking for UK based candidates to speak with.
What you’ll be doing…
You’ll be collaborating with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver a compelling, cutting-edge platform product. The company work in a relatively niche but growing sector and are a key disruptor in this area.
The team is fully distributed and spread across multiple time-zones in Europe and the US so it’s a prerequisite that you are entirely comfortable being self-sufficient. All team members have a proven track record of being a go-getter, capable of leveraging internal and external resources to help execute the business strategy.
You will be part of a team responsible for designing, implementing, and deploying scalable applications and web services. The team value people more than tools and structures and are looking for someone with a voice to bring ideas to the table. You will not be an engineer who needs (or wants!) people breathing down your neck and overall will have a solid engineering skill set but are aware that you’re not perfect!
