QA Engineer | South Wales | Hybrid
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented mid-level QA Engineer to join one of our clients’ Engineering teams. This role is crucial in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of software products before they reach customers.
As a QA Engineer, you will be involved throughout the software development lifecycle, from reviewing requirements and identifying test scenarios to executing tests, managing defects, and supporting production releases. You will work closely with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to help deliver high-quality software in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities
Test Analysis
- Review product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Identify test scenarios, edge cases, and gaps within requirements.
- Provide early feedback to improve requirement clarity, completeness, and testability.
- Contribute to test planning, estimation, and quality strategy discussions.
- Collaborate with Engineering teams and business stakeholders to understand testing requirements.
- Ensure both positive and negative testing approaches are considered.
Test Execution
- Design, write, and execute manual test cases.
- Perform functional, regression, exploratory, and usability testing.
- Record test results and maintain traceability to requirements.
- Support release validation activities and post-release verification.
- Raise and document defects with sufficient detail for efficient investigation and resolution.
- Identify issues relating to:
- Business requirements not being met
- Cross-system functionality impacts
- Usability and performance concerns
- Security vulnerabilities
Quality Assurance & Risk Management
- Clearly document and communicate defects with reproducible steps.
- Assess risk areas and prioritise testing activities accordingly.
- Champion quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Evaluate the impact of issues on users, business operations, and system stability.
- Participate in defect triage activities and contribute to prioritisation decisions.
- Help improve team processes through enhanced testing strategies and automation initiatives.
- Identify recurring issues and trends to drive continuous improvement.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with developers, product managers, and business stakeholders.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate effectively within distributed and international teams.
- Maintain clear and concise documentation, including test cases and defect reports.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, constructive feedback, and continuous learning.

About You
You are a proactive QA professional who takes ownership of your work and enjoys working within collaborative Agile teams. You have strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for delivering high-quality software.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in software testing and quality assurance.
- Experience designing, writing, and executing software tests.
- Strong troubleshooting and defect investigation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable identifying risks, raising concerns, and driving discussions through to resolution.
- Demonstrable understanding of software engineering principles and methodologies.
Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of Agile practices and frameworks such as Scrum and Kanban.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to learn new technologies, tools, and processes quickly.
- Adaptable and comfortable working in a changing environment.
- Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
