A high tech start-up are currently looking for an NPI/Production Engineer to join their team. They’ve just received regulatory approval on their first product, of which they are now looking to move into production, and moving forward will be developing their next generation of products over the next few years. Their tech is novel and patented and will have a huge positive impact on people’s lives. In this role, you will be working predominantly onsite at their contract manufacturer in Mildenhall, Suffolk. Acting as the company’s main point of contact between the company and their contract manufacturer, ensuring products are transferred to manufacture efficiently and cost effectively, whilst maintain the highest quality.
For up to the first 6 months, you will spend 2 days per week in their head office near Bristol to get up to speed with the product and company (all travel and accommodation expenses covered). After this initial period, the majority of your time will be spent in Mildenhall, Suffolk. You will also sporadically travel to Ashford in Kent, to spend time with a smaller contract manufacturer, although this will be minimal (circa 2 days every 6 weeks - with all travel and accommodation expenses covered).
This is a highly interesting technical role, where you will have varied responsibilities, acting as the main contact between the company and their contract manufacturers.
Role requirements:
- Technical support and contact for both head office & contract manufacturing sites
- Continuous improvement and cost reduction solutions
- Support to engineering teams (prototyping, DFM, material selection etc.)
- Review designs for approval (familiarity with 2D/3D/BOMs)
- Ensure compliance is with all regulations and standards are met (ISO: 13485 & 14001)
- Assist to carry out assembly trials
- Troubleshooting of products
Experience:
- 3+ years experience in a similar role within a highly regulated industry (medical, automotive, aerospace, pharma, agriculture etc.)
- Ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge of manufacturing assembly processes
- Clear ability to manage managing and working with sub-contractors/suppliers
- Experience in NPI
- CAD skills (preferably SolidWorks)
- Development of manufacturing process documentation
