Network Security Engineer - Cardiff 

6 months initially up to £450 p/d - Outside IR35

Mainly remote but you will need to travel to Cardiff at least once a month for 1 day onsite (and two days initially on site in Cardiff for onboarding and training)

We are seeking a versatile Network Security Engineer for a financial services client near Cardiff, South Wales. 

Teh role includes all technical aspects of IT security, including, but not limited to:
o Technology (Suitable tools to adapt to (a) Environments (on-prem, cloud, hybrid), (b) Threats (malware, phishing, forensics, insider, etc), (c) Protection (at perimeter, networks, endpoint, application, data levels))
o Attack vectors – Identifying and analysing possible attack vectors, defining requirements for remediation solutions, identifying, and implementing suitable solutions
o Threat Landscape – Development knowledge of the ever-changing threat landscape and analysing and reporting on associated risks within the business

You will play huge part of the Security Team which is helping with IT project implementation and deployment. As you will be working on projects with Microsoft products, experience with PowerShell will be extremely useful in this role.

Knowing how to develop with at least one programming language is the guaranty that you are able to read and understand a “code”. Which is vital to be part of this Security Team.

If you have at least 3 years of proven experience in an IT Security (multi-sites, minimum 50 clients or servers) experience and a mix of the dollowing skills we'd love to hear from you: 
• Windows and Linux operating systems experience

  • PowerShell (or another programme or scripting language such as Perl, Python, Java, C# etc)

• Ability to identify, analyse and mitigate networks and development vulnerabilities
• Strong understanding of the TCP/IP stack and main networks protocols
• Patch management: ability to deploy patches in a timely manner while understanding business impact

Understanding of:
o Sonic Firewalls, WAF, VPN, Proxy, Webproxy

Voice and routing protocols and Sonic Firewalls
o Access control methodologies (MAC, DAC. RBAC)
o IT Security tools (SIEM, IPS (and variants), DLP, Anti-Phishing, NAC, Anti-Malware, EDR)
o IP/TCP stack (TCP/UDP flows, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS)
o SSL (Certs, Certificate Authorities, etc.)
o SSH (Private Keys, Public Key, Exploitation)
