I am delighted to bring to market this unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer. You will be based at an impressive state-of-the-art manufacturing site offering the most advanced and cutting-edge machinery.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of production line equipment, with a focus on electrical systems. To be considered for this role you will demonstrate a robust background in electrical engineering, coupled with mechanical and automation skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform regular maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs on all engineering systems, machinery, and control panels to reduce downtime.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical or mechanical issues on production line equipment, including PLCs, motors, drives, conveyors, and sensors.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team to plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
• To be able to not only confidently fault find in electrical systems but to also improve faults which may be apparent.
• Work closely with Senior engineers, to drive through improvements such as maintenance tasks, predictive maintenance, part upgrades and system upgrades.
• Provide hands-on support to ensure the production line operates efficiently and safely, addressing any electrical or mechanical issues that arise.
• Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment and machinery.
• Work closely with production operators to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to enhance productivity and product quality.
• With lean at the forefront of our operation, you must assist in some operational roles to support the line at performing at the correct level.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on energy efficiency, reliability, and cost reduction.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the operation and maintenance of all engineering systems and equipment within the production hall.
• Provide mechanical and automation support as needed, demonstrating a broad understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Assist with the troubleshooting and repair of mechanical components, including pumps, conveyors, and hydraulic systems.
• Engage in cross-training to enhance multi-skilled capabilities and support team flexibility.
Skills, experience and qualifications required
• 3 plus years of experience in a multi-skilled engineering role within a manufacturing environment, with a strong emphasis on electrical systems.
• HNC or equivalent qualification essential.
• First hand experience with control systems and industrial automation.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Familiarity with mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and process control.
• Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills, with an initiative-taking approach to identifying and addressing issues.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
