Manufacturing Site Manager

£60,000 - £70,000 per annum plus benefits

Are you an experienced Site Manager with a background in Manufacturing? This is a rare, senior level appointment working with a forward-thinking business based in Newport, South Wales. You will form part of a progressive team working with one of the longest established businesses in its field.  My client offers bespoke products to a global customer base with a renowned reputation for quality and excellence.

 

Providing products to a range of industries and solutions including aerospace, defence, oil & gas, nuclear, automotive, biomedical, and renewable energy. You will be joining at an exciting time as they enter a new and exciting phase of growth.

 

Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Director who is a pragmatic and inspirational leader you will play a vital role ensuring company strategy & success is achieved.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Evaluating quality control processes and making recommendations for improvements
  • Developing, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on KPIs to evaluate and achieve efficiency and performance
  • Implementing and managing continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and implementing changes in training, working practices and processes to aid and improve operational performance
  • Managing resource – labour and overheads, to ensure maximum output and efficiency whilst controlling costs
  • Ensuring that the organisation’s manufacturing processes comply with relevant laws, regulations, Health & Safety requirements, and policies
  • Reviewing and calculating the costs of the different tools and equipment in the production process and predicting the overheads in future production requirements
  • Analysing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment placement to maximise manufacturing efficiency
  • Coordinating maintenance and repair services to keep production equipment operational
  • Overseeing the work of technicians and shop-floor personnel
  • Establishing effective work sequences

 

Skills, experience, and qualifications required

 

  • Significant manufacturing experience gained over several years
  • Strong background in Lean Manufacturing
  • Proven ability to drive a continuous improvement culture across all areas
  • Understanding of managing Profit & Loss responsibilities for manufacturing
  • Knowledge of stock control, procurement, supply chain
  • A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
  • Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma
