Job description

Electrically biased Maintenance Technician

£46,000 per annum + overtime, and bonus
Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 16:30: with 1 in 6 weekend rota

 

Are you a hands-on, proactive maintenance professional with a passion for continuous improvement and technical excellence? We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Maintenance Technician to join a high-performing team at a leading advanced manufacturing facility.
 

This is a key role within the site’s engineering function, supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term improvement initiatives. You’ll work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to prioritise tasks, resolve breakdowns, and ensure the reliability of critical systems and equipment.
 

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Lead and support site-wide improvement and maintenance projects.
  • Assist in daily planning and prioritisation of maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, calibrations, repairs, and breakdowns.
  • Monitor and manage spare parts inventory to ensure availability.
  • Identify and liaise with suppliers and subcontractors for maintenance services.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults, implementing long-term solutions.
  • Execute corrective and preventative maintenance tasks to a high standard.
  • Ensure all parts usage is properly logged and recorded.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and proactive problem-solving.

 

Experience/qualifications/skills:
 

Essential:

  • Completed a recognised modern apprenticeship in engineering.
  • NVQ Level 3 / BTEC / HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
  • Strong fault-finding skills in both electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with PLCs (ideally Siemens S7), pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Familiarity with maintenance systems and digital reporting tools.
  • Proven track record in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety practices.
     

Desirable:

  • HND or Foundation Degree in Engineering.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH safety training.
  • 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
