Cost Accountant

£30,000 - £40,000 per annum plus benefits

Newport

Intapeople are working exclusively with this renowned manufacturing business based in Newport. This client provides advanced process control and process-enabling solutions working in close collaboration with leading customers across the globe. Due to several new projects being launched and rapid expansion they currently require an experienced cost accountant to form part of a successful Finance team.

This role forms a vital part of the Operational Finance team, which maintains a focus on enhancing business partnering activities within Supply Chain and Manufacturing Operations. You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of inventory, ensuring robust controls, and providing management information for the control of inventory.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Preparation and production of monthly management accounts with variance analysis and supporting commentary
  • Inventory controls to include; inventory reconciliations and preparation of monthly inventory schedules
  • Developing and preparing monthly KPI’s
  • Performing quarterly obsolescence reviews and investigate reasons for obsolescence
  • Ensuring accuracy and control in transactional processing within Stores
  • Co-ordinating annual stock takes and regular cycle counts
  • Providing inventory management support by reviewing inventory transactions and adjustments
  • Challenging and measuring manufacturing and purchasing effectiveness
  • Ensuring and maintaining accurate product costs
  • Supporting standard cost review processes, and assisting with Group costing activities
  • Reviewing current procedures and processes with the view to suggesting and implementing improvements
  • Assisting with maintaining and developing strong internal controls and ensuring compliance with SOX requirements

Skills, experience, and qualifications needed

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel with a range of advanced Excel skills (including lookups, pivots etc)
  • Good knowledge of ERP accounting software, preferably SAP
  • Experience of working in a fast paced, dynamic organisation
  • Experience working in a standard cost environment
  • Ability to define problems, collect and analyse data to draw actionable conclusions
  • Ability to effectively present and communicate information to wide range of stakeholders
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
