We are recruiting for a BI developer based out of Cardiff. Salary £40,000 depending on experience.

Job purpose

The role will be responsible for forwarding the business’ data analytics capability through co-ordinated development, implementation and management of reporting systems and associated technologies across the firm.

The role will involve capturing business requirements, developing solutions, providing end-user training and working alongside IT professionals and key stakeholders

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Develop and support the reporting capabilities for our financial client using a range of tools including the Microsoft Development stack and the Power BI business analytic tool.
  • Manage the full development cycle, from design, development, transition and operational support for systems.
  • Work with and co-ordinate the development and support activities of third party suppliers.
  • Develop system security, maintenance and governance plans
  • Ensure that appropriate documentation exists for systems
  • Develop and deliver one-to-one or small group end user training
  • Work closely with other members of the ICT team to exchange knowledge
  • Investigate the use of new technologies and more efficient ways to achieve goals
  • Any other task as may be defined by the Applications Manager to meet the operational needs of the department

Knowledge, skills, abilities and experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of the management and development of a range of Business Information Systems
  • Good working knowledge of Power BI
  • Ability to create and manage datasets for Power BI
  • Using SQL server to develop excellent datasets
  • Excellent working knowledge of SQL server
  • Thorough knowledge of developing SSRS/SSIS solutions
  • Strong experience of system performance monitoring and optimising
  • Prior experience with creating and managing data warehouses
  • Strong understanding of data modelling and transformations
  • Understanding of best practices in report aesthetics
  • Methodical approach to documentation
  • Strong written skills, including the ability to write technical documentation
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong verbal, influencing and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter who is able to work unsupervised
  • Ability to prioritise and organise work under pressure and determination to complete tasks to a high standard with measurable success
  • Solid understanding of business processes

  • Dax & M Query
  • O365, Azure DevOps
  • Knowledge of Java
  • Experience of working with ERP systems
  • ITIL Foundation
